10/3/2020 – Mt. Mansfield
We will follow the Butler Lodge Trail to a brief stop at Butler Lodge with breathtaking views to the West. From there up the challenging Wampahoofus Trail to the Forehead and then the Long Trail north to the Visitor’s Center. Another brief stop and continuing on the Long Trail north to the Chin with 360 degree views of waning fall foliage along the way. 10/10/2020 Hike Around Mansfield
From Underhill State Park we’ll climb Laura Cowles to summit, then loop on west and east sides of the ridge, through Subway, Canyon, Lakeview, Amherst, and Cliff Trails, then return on Sunset Ridge. 10/11/2020 – Camels Hump
We will follow the Monroe Trail to the Dean Trail, maybe a stop at Montclair Glen Lodge, then North on the Long Trail. With breath taking views to the East along the way, we will finally climb the Southwest rock face of Camel’s Hump for a short pause at the summit. Continuing North to the “hut clearing” for lunch and then down the Monroe Trail to the parking lot. 10/18/2020 – Emily Proctor / Cooley Glen Loop
We will start by following the Emily Proctor Trail (3.5 Mi.) to the Shelter by that name for a well-deserved break. Then head North on the Long Trail to Mt. Wilson (a 3000’ class Mountain at 3482’), Mt. Roosevelt at 3528’ and finally Mt. Cleveland at 3482’. Views of Killington are rumored to exist along this 5.7 mile stretch of the Long Trail before reaching the junction with the Cooley Glen Trail. At this point it is just a gently downhill walk of 3.2 mi. back to our starting point. Lingering fall foliage should be beautiful. 10/24/2020 – Mt. Elmore
From the parking area at Elmore State Park we’ll climb the Fire Tower Trail to the foundation of an old ranger station overlooking Lake Elmore, climb steeply to the summit and fire tower, then follow the Ridge Trail past balancing rock and complete the loop. $4 per person state park fee may apply.
