This hike was pushed one day out from Saturday to Sunday June 1 st on account of rain the day before. Five of us met at 8:00 AM in the Richmond Park and Ride parking lot to carpool to the trailhead. We drove together to the small parking lot off Upper Hollow Road to get to the Stowe Pinnacle Trailhead. There we met another attendee, making the group 6 in total. There were 4 no-shows. We set off at 8:30 AM towards the overlook via the Stowe Pinnacle Trail. The day was overcast and cold for June at 48 degree Fahrenheit. Despite heavy rain the day before, the trail was not too muddy. There were many beautiful wildflowers on the trail. The view from the overlook was stunning, and there we stopped for a snack and photos before descending the way we came. At the top we ate some Japanese Oreos (peach and matcha flavored). On the descent we took a short detour to check out the “Vista Point” advertised on a posted sign. The vista point was entirely obscured by pine trees and not worthwhile. The trail conditions were generally okay considering the previous days’ rain. There were two downed trees on the trail and one downed tree precariously hanging above the trail. We concluded the hike at 12:00 PM. In total we hiked 3.6 miles with 1700 feet of elevation gain and consumed 8 Oreos. Participants: Valen (new member), Rick, Greg, Lucy, Chris, and Michael (trip leader).
