Two of us met at the South Burlington Route 7 Starbucks parking lot for carpooling. We drove south on Route 7 to the grassy parking lot off Common Way Road, which is a short walk from the trailhead. There we met two other attendees, both new residents of Vermont and the Green Mountain Club. There were 6 no-shows. We set off at 10:00 AM towards the Charlotte Link Trail. The day was mostly sunny with a nice temperature around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The trail conditions were very nice. There were many beautiful wildflowers on the trail, and it was interesting walking through the Charlotte Village Winery vineyard and seeing Mt. Philo in the distance. The views of the ADKs from the vineyard were quite nice. We walked along the Charlotte Link trail to the base of Mt. Philo. Luckily admission was free that day at Mt. Philo State Park, and we all got in for free! Two of the attendees turned back to head to their cars. The remaining three of us hiked to the Devil’s Chair cave. I, along with another attendee, ventured inside the cave and saw the Geocache that was hidden there. After a short exploring of the cave, we headed back the way we came. We concluded the hike at 12:30 PM. In total we hiked 5.0 miles with 1430 feet of elevation gain. Participants: Marie (new member), Allan (new member), Jacob, Andy, and Michael (trip leader).
