A private closed barn and porches affords some shelter. [GB 2nd Edition 1920] On the west side of Buffum Pond (now known as Griffith Pond), Senator Griffith built a comfortable lodge accessed by a carriage road which is now used as an approach trail. It is now in bad repair. [O’Kane, 1926] A side trail leads around the lake to a barn and the old Lake House, now falling to ruin, on the west shore. Emergency shelter in the barn only. [GB 9th Edition 1932] No mention of hiker shelter. [GB 14th Edition 1951]
