Mile 4.9 — Division 3 — Elev. 2600 ft.
This frame lean-to, with bunks for 6 to 8, was built by the USFS in 1966. [GB 20th Edition 1971] It was destroyed by fire October 17, 1975. [GB 23rd Edition 1985] This shelter, of standard USFS frame lean-to design, has been constructed on the east shore of the lake 1000 feet south of the 3-way junction at the north end of the lake.
The former Griffith Shelter has been renamed Peru Peak Shelter. [LTN, Nov. 1966]
