Our small contingent of three met at the canoe put in on the Little River, accessible from Cottonbrook Road, which is off of Moscow Road and at the intersection with Nebraska Valley Road. Notices about loon nesting are everywhere and we we nearly paddled directly into an occupied one shortly after starting. We had a great tail wind and lilly-dipped our way south down the Little River until reaching the Waterbury Reservoir. We turned around and battled mighty headwinds (well, sort of ‘mighty’….. that sounds more dramatic – but we did see one whitecap!) hugging the shoreline as best we could. Delightful temps and the water felt warmer than the air. With Jonna, John and Ted Albers trip leader, who managed to get us lost just once on the return. The map (thanks John) tells the story 😉
