2/9 (Sat) Camels Hump via Monroe Trail
This trip is full.
This outing is a great snowshoe or micro-spikes workout, all the more so if its blowing fifty knots at the summit! The Monroe Trail starts at the end of North Duxbury’s Crouching Lion parking lot, up Camel’s Hump Road which is off of River Road, itself following the Winooski River just to its south. Allow about four hours round trip, maybe a little more, with a few steep parts. Possible pit stop at the Reservoir tavern in Waterbury afterward? To be decided. Difficult snowshoe. 6 miles. 2600′ elevation gain. Group limit 6. Ted Albers, ted@ted-albers.net.
2/10 (Sun) Burnt Rock
We’ll head up Hedgehog Brook Trail to the Long Trail, and continue up the steep final stretch to the summit of Burnt Rock Mtn. Snowshoes and spikes required. Difficult snowshoe. Moderate pace. 5.2 miles. 2010′ elevation gain. Jill George, jillghiker@gmail.com.
