This outing is a great snowshoe or micro-spikes workout, all the more so if its blowing fifty knots at the summit! The Monroe Trail starts at the end of North Duxbury’s Crouching Lion parking lot, up Camel’s Hump Road which is off of River Road, itself following the Winooski River just to its south. Allow about four hours round trip, maybe a little more, with a few steep parts. Possible pit stop at the Reservoir tavern in Waterbury afterward? To be decided. We will park at the end of plowing in Lincoln Gap, snowshoe to the Long Trail, then follow it south to Cooley Glen and out to the trailhead in South Lincoln. 2/23 (Sat) Bird monitoring at Ethan Allen Homestead
Meet at 8:30AM in the parking lot up by the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum. I will have binoculars and field guides to borrow, AND if we are so lucky to have snow on this day I will also have SNOW SHOES for people to borrow!
