Six of us met in Burlington at 4:30 AM (with another pickup to follow in Vergennes) for the drive to Keene Valley, NY for a 6:00 AM start. Cool to cold weather throughout the day made for very comfortable hiking, while skies were a mix of sun and clouds with some strong winds on the summits.

We started out with a four mile walk along Lake Road on the Adirondack Mountain Reserve property to Lower Ausable Lake before summiting Pyramid and Gothics via the Weld Trail. The original plan was to hike only these mountains and then descend, but the group was feeling quite good after our Gothics summit and voted to add on Armstrong and Upper Wolfjaw to make it a 13.5 mile outing spanning three of the ADK 46 peaks in the Great Range.

We returned to the parking lot around 3:00 PM and made our way back to Vermont shortly thereafter. A very strong group of hikers with a willingness for a very early start helped to make this a really fun outing.

Participants, Julie Cimonetti, Liana Edwards, Lisa Morris, Jill George, Colin Laurence, Kevin Burke and Chris Luczynski (leader).
