Battenkill Inn

The Battenkill Inn operated as an accommodation for Long Trail hikers and travelers from 1905 to 1926. Located at Manchester Depot near the trail, the inn was listed in the 1924 Long Trail Guidebook as one of the lodging options near the junction of the Winhall Road and Long Trail corridor in Manchester, offering access to hikers from the depot via the Rutland Railroad. The inn no longer appeared in subsequent guidebook editions after 1924, indicating it had ceased operations as a Long Trail accommodation by the mid-1920s. The structure itself survived for nearly seven decades after its closure before being destroyed by fire in 1993, at which time it had become known as Grabbers.
