At Bromley Mountain’s summit, the Ski Patrol warming hut is open for hiker use in summer and fall, and a moldering privy is provided and maintained by the Manchester Section of the Green Mountain Club.
Built in 2003, the hut serves Long Trail hikers seeking shelter and rest at the 3,260-foot elevation. During the summer the warming hut is usually left open for hikers to rest in. The warming hut remains owned and operated by the ski patrol rather than the Green Mountain Club, distinguishing it from other Long Trail shelter facilities.
The hut shares the summit with an observation tower, The original wood tower, first built in 1962, was dismantled and removed from the mountain in the summer of 2012 for safety reasons. Soon after, the Manchester Section of the Green Mountain Club began efforts to gather resources to rebuild the beloved tower. Years of planning, permitting, and fundraising were required to complete the project. Bromley Tower is owned by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, and is managed by the Green Mountain Club.
