Camp Lizzie

Camp Lizzie was a logging camp located east of Buck Job on the Long Trail system, established around 1921-1922. The camp consisted of multiple structures, though by the early 1920s only one cabin remained in usable condition. This surviving cabin was situated at the confluence of two streams and offered basic amenities including beds, bedding, a stove, and cooking utensils, making it available as a shelter for hikers passing through the area. Despite its utility as a waypoint for travelers, Camp Lizzie was never officially maintained or recognized as a Green Mountain Club shelter. The site also served as a gathering place for collectors of medicinal herbs, roots, and barks. The camp eventually deteriorated and no longer stands, leaving only ruins of what was once a functional waystation in the Vermont wilderness.
