Deers Leap Tea House

The Deers Leap Tea House was established at Sherburne Pass on Vermont’s Long Trail, noted in the Green Mountain Club’s 1917 guidebook as affording "rest and refreshment" to hikers.

The structure was built in 1917 as a commercial tea house serving the growing community of Long Trail walkers in the Killington Peak region. The trail from Sherburne Pass led east toward Killington Peak, with the tea house located near the beginning of this route, making it a natural stopping point for those making the seven-mile ascent.

According to the tourist guide "The Lure of Vermont’s Silent Places"

Deer’s Leap Tea House is a most attractive place at which to take lunch.
