The Dickinson Home was a private residence operated by Wells Dickinson on a steep hillside in Peru, Vermont, near the Peru-Manchester Turnpike. The property offered meals, lodging, and parcel post service via RFD (Rural Free Delivery) to Long Trail hikers.
Located approximately 1½ miles east of where the Long Trail crossed the turnpike, it was the closest accommodation to the high point of the road. Auto stages ran in both directions from the property to nearby railroads and hotels.
By 1930, the home continued to operate as a hiking accommodation, with the Long Trail Guide Book still recommending it to those preferring lodging to camping.
