Green Mountain House Hiker Hostel

Green Mountain House opened in 2008 when its owners opened their home to long distance hikers, giving them the opportunity to rest and resupply as they continue along Vermont’s wilderness corridor.

Owner Jeff Taussig section hiked the Appalachian Trail from 2001 through 2006.

He and his wife Regina incorporated many outstanding features from the best hostels in the country into Green Mountain House.

Located in Manchester, Vermont, just 5 miles west of the Appalachian Trail and Long Trail, the hostel operates seasonally from June 7th to July 31st.

The hostel is known for its cleanliness and for a freezer full of Vermont’s own Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, with every summertime guest receiving a free pint.
