Herb Haley’s Farm operated as a hospitality stop for Long Trail hikers in the early twentieth century, located a short distance north of the Upper Road on a branch of the Cold River near Killington.
The GMC’s 1920 Guide Book described the farm as providing "good beds and board; telephone" for Trail users.
A contemporary account from 1922 characterized it as "a plain enough place" that nevertheless offered welcoming accommodations, with "good things, well served, with clean linen and beds like those at home" and hospitable owners.
By 1928, the farm was no longer available to hikers, and the guidebook noted "The old Herb Haley place is no longer available."
In 1929, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Field of Mendon donated a stone shelter in memory of Governor Percival W. Clement, which was built near the former Herb Haley Farm location.
By the 1985 Long Trail Guide, the farm site was described as an "overgrown clearing," marking where the former hospitality stop had once stood.
