Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Stork operated a lodging house located on the Wallingford-East Wallingford Road (Rt 140) where the Long Trail crosses, welcoming hikers with food for sale and a garage.
About 3/4 mile away on a crossroad they maintained a separate house with a good stove that could accommodate 6 persons.
The facility first appeared in the 10th Edition of the Long Trail Guide Book in 1935.
By the 1947 guidebook edition, the Storks continued to offer some food for sale and maintained a trail register, also holding mail or parcels for hikers and taking emergency calls to relay to hikers who stopped there.
The 1940 edition also noted their continued operations. However, Stork House does not appear in later Long Trail Guide Book editions, indicating it ceased operations sometime after the mid-1940s.
