Mile 5.4 — Division 7 — Elev.2420 ft

This shelter replaced Sucker Brook Lodge

This shelter is located 0.f mile down the Sucker Brook Trail. It is a framed shelter which sleeps 8 and was built by the USFS in 1963. Water is found at Sucker Brook 50 ft further down the Sucker Brook Trail. It has been in use from 1963 to present. [GB 24th Edition 1996]

In 1983, Joanne and I camped at this shelter while we clipped the LT south as volunteers for the GMC. At that time the LT passed in front of the shelter. The area was wet Presently the LT follows the ridge east of the shelter which we explored during our stay. I didn’t give it any thought at the time, but I can see now that the trail is better located east of the shelter. We had our tent on the rise above the shelter, as I recall. [Paul Woodward]
