Camp open for hikers. located south of present Old Job Shelter in abandoned town of Griffith. [GB 2nd Edition 1920]

Located about a mile from abandoned town of Griffith. Good stove, bunks, furniture, and utensils are loaned to hikers by the owners who ask in return that the cabin be left clean and neat. Autos can get to Griffith. [GB 4th Edition 1922]

After crossing the Danby-Weston highway, we reach the deserted town of Griffith, pass ruins of charcoal kilns, then pass a red schoolhouse and reach a shelter known as Three Shanties open to hikers by permission of the owners. An old lumber camp at Long Hole will provide some shelter, and at Buffum Pond we can use tbe porch of the old Griffith House [LT News August 1961]
