We launched at the mouth of the LaPlatte near Shelburne Bay and checked out how thick the ice was under the Bay Road overpass where you can get a good clear view. Looked great. Let’s go!
We walked up McCabes Brook (a tributary southwest of the LaPlatte) then backtracked when the ice looked less than ideal as it was a bit chilly for swimming.
We walked up the LaPlatte towards Tr. 7 making it about ½ way there, then back to the Bay. Conditions were great. Just under 4 miles total. This is a Nature Conservancy property.
