Young Adventurers Club outings provide an opportunity for families and their youngest hikers to get out and explore the woods at a comfortable, playful pace. Our goal is to encourage and promote children’s enthusiasm for playing in Vermont’s outdoor spaces, and our trips focus on families getting out and having fun, rather than going fast or far. While the pace may be geared more towards younger adventurers (ages 3-8), everyone is welcome.
Outings are hosted by the Green Mountain Club’s Burlington section and are based on the Young Adventurers Club (YAC) model created by the Montpelier section of the GMC.
Burlington section YAC outings are led by Michelle Connor. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about the program or to be added to the email list. You can also find our latest outings on the outings page or the GMC Burlington Section Facebook page.

Michelle Connor grew up in Essex Junction and returned to the area after graduating from Hartwick College with a BA in Spanish. She has worked for more than a decade in fundraising and administration at local non-profits, most recently at the Vermont Land Trust in Montpelier. She joined the Green Mountain Club in 2007 and completed her first overnight backpacking trip that summer on Camel’s Hump. She solo through-hiked the Long Trail the following year. She lives with her family in Essex and enjoys exploring the woods near her home. Michelle joined the GMC Board of Directors in January 2016 and looks forward to being more involved with the club and sharing the wonder and joy of nature with others.
